For years, I worked as a makeup artist and my wardrobe required me to wear black every day. So the classic color became a way of life — and lucky for me, I know it will never go out of style.
A few years ago I assessed my wardrobe and realized that EVERYTHING was black: my jackets (4), my boots (3 pairs!), my jeans (one in every silhouette). The desire for variety and versatility reared its head. I longed for a non-black neutral that I could easily pair with my printed tops and shoes. Experience taught me that the next best color would be a variation of brown — Cognac to be specific.
For the F/W season, I chose this rich, buttery hue to not only compliment skin tones of all shades but also to elevate the other neutral hues that you may already be incorporating into your wardrobe while giving your pieces that POP their due spotlight.
I may not be the first to say it, but I wholeheartedly believe cognac is the new black. In 2024 and into 2025, you’ll see variations of it as a style alternative to our beloved classic black palette.
